SouthTech Partners with Sarasota Chamber for Data Dump

Breaks Collection Record from Previous Electronics Recycling Event

April 29, 2019 (Sarasota, FL) – SouthTech joined forces with the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce for its biannual electronics recycling event on Thursday, April 18, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The total weight of all electronic devices collected was greater than that collected during SouthTech’s previous event, which occurred in October of last year. The grand total was 10,073 pounds of recyclable material, breaking the previous event’s total of 8,751 pounds.

This year’s event was the first time the Data Dump was co-hosted with a local chamber of commerce. Participants drove their cars into the parking lot while attendants unloaded their old computers, monitors, and other recyclable electronics. Hard drives with sensitive data were destroyed onsite, and the remaining equipment was sorted, palletized, and trucked back to the Quicksilver Recycling facility in Tampa. “SouthTech would like to thank everyone who participated, as well as The Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce for co-hosting and Quicksilver Recycling Services without whom these events would not be possible,” said Henry Decoo, Director of Sales and Marketing for SouthTech. “Everyone was thrilled with this year’s turnout,” adds Lauren Selle, SouthTech’s Marketing Coordinator. “We were featured on the Suncoast View the day before the event, and I think that’s why we were able to collect as much as we did!”

“We [The Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce] are thrilled with the record-level of engagement at this year’s event. The level of impact that our business community has in moments of collaboration like this is incredible, and we look forward to providing our membership with more opportunities like this in the future!”

As the electronic recycling event continues to grow, SouthTech is partnering with other chambers of commerce and business organizations. To find out when the next Data Dump will be, please visit southtech.com/data-dump or follow SouthTech on Facebook.
